Genuki

This is a well-known primary source of genealogical information relating to the whole of the United Kingdom. It is a large,
complex hierarchical site, but it has an excellent system of navigation. Once you have reached the Genuki Home Page, it is
quite easy to find your way to the particular page that you require.

For instance, information about Blackley can be found by going to the  Genuki Home Page at:

and then clicking, in turn, on:
United Kingdom & Ireland - Regions - England - Lancashire - Towns & Parishes - Select a letter (B, in this case) - Blackley.

Transcription of PRO British Census 1891 Blackley Lancashire England
http://www.blackley1891.co.uk
This is a transcription by H.R.Johnson of eight Public Record Office microfiche:
RG12/3269 Nos 1 to 4
RG12/3270 Nos 1 to 4
It has a Full Name Index to over 15 500 persons, distributed over 3413 households, including two institutions, viz
"The Convent of the Good Shepherd" and "The Manchester and Salford Reformatory for Boys".

The transcription may also be searched either by address or by forename.

The latter facility affords the possibility of tracking down a female who has changed her name through marriage, even though her married surname is unknown to the searcher. It consists of a list of forenames of married and widowed females, each with ages and birthplaces, as stated in 1891. If the corresponding  earlier information about a given person is available, ( for example, from a previous census), and the lady in question was resident in Blackley on Census Night 1891, there is some chance of locating her here.
